Transfer Google Play Music to YouTube Music via Your Phone
To get started transferring your music via your phone you’ll want to make sure you have the latest version of YouTube Music installed. Launch the app and you might see an advertisement for YouTube Music Premium – just close out of that for now. Then on the main home screen, you should see a “Transfer your Play Music library” banner. Also, in the Settings portion of the app, you will see a new “Transfer from Google Play Music” option. This is how you can initialize the transfer if you don’t see the banner. Note: If you don’t see either option to transfer music, hold tight, Google just hasn’t rolled out the transfer feature to your account yet. For this article, I’m using the transfer option in Settings. So, tap the “Transfer from Google Play Music” option in Settings. Then the app will show you it’s about to transfer your library, music recommendations, playlists & many stations, liked and disliked songs, uploads and purchases. After that tap the “Start Transfer” button.
Next, wait while your music and other settings are transferred over. The amount of time it takes to complete will vary depending on the size of your library, the number of people transferring at the same time, etc.
After everything has completed with the transfer, you will see a notification message and receive an email that everything is all set.
Transfer Google Play Music to YouTube Music via the Web
If you transfer your music via a web browser, it essentially takes just one click to move it. To transfer your music on the web, head to music.youtube.com/transfer. Then click the “Start Transfer” button and your music will be moved over in the background. The process is much like the one for the mobile steps described above.
