What Is It?

This app is a choose-your-own-adventure book set to an interactive iOS app. The story starts with the main character, Taylor, stuck in the middle of a blizzard. He reaches out to you for advice, and you pick between two responses. Depending on how you answer his queries determines where the story goes.

One cool aspect, pardon the pun, is the inclusion of the Apple Watch. The story can be continued on either the watch or with iOS. That option made it feel more realistic. You’d play the game just like you’d respond to a text message. The game puts in delays since, in real life, you don’t always get an immediate response.

Who Is It Good For?

Someone who likes to read and has patience. You’re creating a book based on your responses. You don’t win or lose the game, but you could accidentally kill off the character. Eventually, the story ends. I didn’t play the whole way through; however, I did play with it for several hours. This game is perfect for you if you sometimes get bored and ask Siri random questions for companionship. Lifeline: Whiteout lets you interact with someone anytime you want and continue your adventure .

Should You Download It?

The game takes up about 70 MB, so it’s not huge. This app is a game I’ll keep on my watch for those times I’m bored and need someone to talk to. Who knows? Maybe Taylor might make it out of this adventure alive, but he’ll be waiting a long time if he relies on me. Download Lifeline: Whiteout from the Apple Store
